February 23: Weekly Prayers

We pray to you, O God, for the church of Jesus Christ throughout the world. Bless our presiding  bishop, Sean; our bishop, Phil; and our vicar, Joseph. We pray for the Anglican Episcopal Church of  Brazil; and for the faith communities of St. Matthew’s/San Mateo and St. Michael’s, Auburn; and St.  Elizabeth’s, Burien. We ask for blessings and healing for Central Lutheran Church, Seattle, and for its  pastor Paul Eldred. We pray also for the congregation of All Saints Goshen, who worships in our  building.

In your mercy, hear our prayer.

We pray for those alienated from the church, and for our witness to Christ in every community.

In your mercy, hear our prayer.

We pray for those in charge of peoples and nations, and for their exercise of mercy and justice.

In your mercy, hear our prayer.

We pray for all who suffer from oppressive rulers and regimes, and for the victims of abuse and  violence.

In your mercy, hear our prayer.

We pray for all who are sick and troubled, especially those who have commended themselves to our  prayers: Emilio; Ian; Barbara; Christine; Sue; Denice; Jim; Richard; Suzanne; Karen; Nancy; Sandy;  Emily; Helen; Verne; Tim; Tracey; Jack; Daniel; Dawn; Abby; and those we now name, either silently or  aloud.

In your mercy, hear our prayer.

We pray for the dying and the dead. We ask you to mercifully receive the soul of Demetrius Frazier,  and the souls of all who die at the hands of their governments. We ask for comfort for those who  mourn. We remember Britany; Liam; Angela; Ray; and those we now name, either silently or aloud.

In your mercy, hear our prayer.

For ourselves, our families, and all those we love, especially those celebrating birthdays and  anniversaries this week. We remember those we now name, either silently or aloud.

In your mercy, hear our prayer.

Remembering the blessed Virgin Mary; Hilda; Patrick; and all the saints, we offer ourselves and one  another to you, our living God, through Christ.

In your mercy, hear our prayer.

Amen.
