January 19: Weekly Prayers

God whose salvation is like a burning torch, make your church a crown of beauty in your hand,  offering your love to the world. Bless our presiding bishop, Sean; our bishop, Phil; and our vicar,  Joseph. We pray for the Church in the Province of the West Indies; and for the faith communities of  St. John’s, Kirkland; St. Thomas, Medina; and Emmanuel, Mercer Island. We pray also for the  congregation of All Saints Goshen, who worships in our building.

In your mercy, hear our prayer.

God who makes the land fruitful, watch over our homeland in days of doubt. Speak wisdom to our  leaders.

In your mercy, hear our prayer.

God whose love reaches to the heavens, we thank you for this caring community of St. Hilda St.  Patrick, and for our varied gifts and talents. May we grow in concern and affection for one another  and for our near neighbors.

In your mercy, hear our prayer.

God by whose light we see light, show us the way to protect the planet you have made.

In your mercy, hear our prayer.

God of loving-kindness, we ask you to bless the people of Greater Los Angeles as they begin their  recovery from devastating fires. Comfort them in the immensity of their grief, and show them the way  forward as a community of mutual aid.

In your mercy, hear our prayer.

God whose justice is like the great deep, we give thanks this week for the life of Martin Luther King, Jr;  for his example of courage; and of constantly offering his life to your service. May we, as he did, turn  to you in moments of fear and dread, and prayerfully seek your company and strength.

In your mercy, hear our prayer.

God who offers shelter under the shadow of your wings, open the well of life to those who suffer in  body, mind, or spirit. Bless those who struggle with addiction and recovery, especially those who  gather in our building to strengthen one another. We pray for those who have commended  themselves to our prayers: Emilio; Ian; Barbara; Christine; Sue and her family; Denice; Jim; Richard;  Suzanne; Karen; Nancy; Sandy; Emily; Helen; Verne; Tim; Alec; Aria; Dale; Rick and his friend; Troy;  Amy; Larry; Ron; Colin; Sophia; Charlie; Tom; Kim and her family; Jessica; James; Lela; and those we  now name, either silently or aloud.

In your mercy, hear our prayer.

God whose house is abundant, call home, in your mercy, the souls of those who have died. Today we  remember Giles; Jim; Doug; Guy; and those we now name, either silently or aloud.

In your mercy, hear our prayer.

God whose river of delights is never-ending, we give thanks for our friends and loved ones, especially  those celebrating birthdays and anniversaries this week: Zach; and those we now name, either silently  or aloud.

In your mercy, hear our prayer.

Amen.
