December 1: Weekly Prayers

Precious Lord, we offer prayers for faith leaders all around the world, trusting that they will lead their  flocks toward love, peace, and justice. Today, in the Diocesan cycle of prayer, we pray especially for  All Saints’, Bellevue and Holy Apostles, Bellevue. In the Anglican cycle of prayer, we offer thanks for  the Province of the Episcopal Church of South Sudan. We also remember the congregation of All  Saints Goshen, who meets in our church, and we thank you for the community of St. Hilda St. Patrick,  where we are so grateful for the pledges offered for its support.

Loving God, hear the Prayers of your People.

We ask your blessing and comfort on those who suffer from illness, poverty, violence, natural  disasters, and any kind of despair.

Loving God, hear the Prayers of your People.

As we prepare for the holiday season, we pray for the gifts of family, friends, and community; and for  the healing of broken and difficult relationships. May we keep your flame in our hearts as we fully live  each day.

Loving God, hear the Prayers of your People.

Reconciling God, open our hearts to those who are difficult to love, those we disagree with, and those  we don’t understand.

Loving God, hear the Prayers of your People.

Holy One, we beseech you to stir the hearts of leaders in our nation and around the world to seek  peace and well-being for those who depend on them. We pray especially for our President Joe and  President-elect Donald; for our Governor Jay and Governor-elect Bob; for all newly elected officials, and for all in authority in our communities.

Loving God, hear the Prayers of your People.

We offer prayers for the people in our lives who especially need your love and grace, including Emilio;  Ian; Barbara; Christine; Sue; Giles; Denice; Jim; Richard; Suzanne; Karen; Will; Janette; Nancy; Sandy;  Emily; Kenneth; Jayne; Mariam; Alec; Leah, Maxwell, and their family; Dale; Charlie and his family;  Sila; Eric and Jay; Dee and her family; and those we now name, either silently or aloud.

Eternal God, embrace those who have died and those who mourn, including Ruth; Ed; and those we  now name, either silently or aloud.

Heavenly One, as we enter the season of Advent and look forward to celebrating new life, let us  celebrate the birthdays and anniversaries of Tiffany; Bernie & Jill; and those we now name, either  silently or aloud.

Loving God, hear the Prayers of your People.

Living Christ, as nature around us prepares for winter, may we pledge to celebrate and safeguard our  natural world. Help us to find ways to live thoughtfully and gently on this marvelous and beautiful earth.

Loving God, hear the Prayers of your People.

Amen.
