Holy God who ordains, orders, and facilitates all creation, we pray for your church, known and unknown, seen and unseen. We especially pray for our priest, Joseph; Melissa and Brian, our Bishops; and Michael, our presiding Bishop. In the Anglican Communion, we pray for The Church in the Province of the West Indies; and in the Diocese of Olympia for St. Stephen’s, Oak Harbor; and St. James, Sedro Woolley.
Christ is risen from the dead, trampling down death by death! And upon those in the tombs bestowing life!
Victorious Christ who supersedes all powers of nature, government, empire, and even death by your glorious resurrection, have mercy on all those in positions of authority. Grant wisdom where there was prejudice, compassion where there was callousness, and humility where there was pride.
Christ is risen from the dead, trampling down death by death! And upon those in the tombs bestowing life!
Holy Spirit, giver of life, the world rejoices in the resurrection of Christ and eagerly awaits the resurrection of the body. Amidst our cosmic celebration, remember the suffering of the earth and its people. The rocks and trees cry out in praise and agony, as do your children. Hear our shouts of joy and lamentation. Delight with those who delight, and mourn with those who mourn. We especially remember the people of Palestine, and every place touched by war.
Christ is risen from the dead, trampling down death by death! And upon those in the tombs bestowing life!
Lion of Judah, enliven this church, its members, visitors, clergy, deacons, lay leaders, elders, children, musicians, bakers, saints, and sinners; all those here in person, in spirit, by video; those who give and those who receive; those who are poor and those who are rich; those who have kept the fast and those who have not; those who have worked from the first hour and those who have worked from the eleventh. Equip us all to begin, continue, and see through to the very end the work you have prepared for us to do. With them, and with you; with Hilda, Patrick, and all the saints; and our blessed and glorious lady the Theotokos, we pray.
Christ is risen from the dead, trampling down death by death! And upon those in the tombs bestowing life!
Perfect physician, who formed us out of dust, we pray for all who struggle in body, mind, and spirit. We know that your resurrection is the ultimate victory of life over death, good over evil, healing over sickness, and love over sin. For those who have not yet experienced that ultimate victory, for those who toil, weep, and strain, for those who struggle with addiction and recovery, especially those who meet in our building, we ask that you bring comfort, and assurance that they are not alone. We especially pray for Emilio; Ian; Barbara; Christine; Sue; Giles; Denice; Jim; Richard; Suzanne; Karen; Michael; Erin; Steve and Becky; Rosemary; and those we now name, either silently or aloud.
Christ is risen from the dead, trampling down death by death! And upon those in the tombs bestowing life!
Lamb that was slain and yet lives, tree that is burned and not consumed, we remember those who have gone into the tombs and all who have died. We await their resurrection with grief and with love. Hold them in your living arms as well as all of those who mourn. We especially pray for those we now name, either silently or aloud.
Christ is risen from the dead, trampling down death by death! And upon those in the tombs bestowing life!
Resurrected Christ, today we exult in your grand victory over the powers of sin and death. We also rejoice in the celebrations of birthdays and anniversaries of those we hold dear. Bless these happy days with joy and feasting. We especially pray for Alex and Kim; Leah; Klara; April; Emilio; Jim; and those we now name, either silently or aloud.
Amen.
